About Page numbers
Number each PDF page in one of six positions. Choose the text format, font size and starting number to match the rest of your document. Numbering helps readers navigate printed reports, contracts and assembled application packs.
How to use Page numbers
- Choose the PDF to number.
- Set the position, format, font size and starting value.
- Select Add page numbers and inspect the saved file.
What to check
Formats include a plain number, Page 1, 1 / 10 and Page 1 of 10. The total reflects the pages in the document and the chosen starting number. If the document continues a previous file, set the starting number so the sequence carries on correctly.
Limitations
Numbers are added to every page. There is no option to skip a cover page or set a different style for sections.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
Yes. Set the starting value and every page is numbered from that point, which is useful for documents split across files.
Can I skip the cover page?
Not currently. Numbers are applied to every page; you can remove a cover first with Organize PDF and add it back afterwards.
Where can the numbers be placed?
At the top or bottom of the page, aligned left, center or right — six positions in total.
